With reference to recent cases the writers of this paper reviewed the literature relating to brain tumors causing psychiatric symptoms. They wondered wether psychiatric symptoms, occuring as a result of a primary brain tumor, could be more specific than, in general, is suggested. A neurashenic syndrome, an organic mental syndrome, depressive symptoms and changes of personality are frequently being denominated in the literature. The authors recommend that, in a number of cases showing the previous mentioned neuropsychiatric syndromes, extensive neurological examination, EEG and CT-scanning of the brain, should be carried out. As psychiatric symptoms are in the foreground especially with slowly growing brain tumors, of which a part does not invade the brain (meningeomas), curation is sometimes possible when discovered in time. Therefore early diagnosis is of the utmost importance.
