In 1969, in this Journal, the author published an article about the psychiatric hospital and the psychiatry of the aged. It was stated that the psychiatric hospitals could not longer provide psychiatric treatment for the ever increasing aging population.
It was therefore that the psychiatry of old age was developed in psychogeriatric nursing-homes. In the future however reintegration of the psychiatric institutions and the psychogeriatric nursinghomes will be of great importance.
