Based on an analysis of the existing literature on migrant care in the Netherlands, the author argues that there exists a fundamental lack of scientific knowledge about e.g. the epidemiology and the psychopathology of mental disorders among migrants, their help-seeking behaviour, or the filter processes between the different echelons. Therefore, the Dutch mental health policy with regard to migrants lacks consistency and is often forced to react ad hoc.
