The ecological approach in psychiatry — This paper pays attention to the ecological approach in psychiatry. The underlying assumption is that the ecological theory and methods can throw some light on mental disorder as a social phenemenon.
A brief description is given of the content, the history and the objectives of ecology in psychiatry. The theoretical, methodological and social implications of this approach are discussed explicitly. Furthermore, the most important theoretical and methodological problems confronting ecology in the field of psychiatry are delt with.
