Depression as first symptom of Wilson's disease

Summary In a patient presenting with depression, the depression turned out to be the first symptom of Wilson's disease. The diagnostic process was influenced by the presence of extrapyramidal signs. The case study demonstrates that depressions is an affliction involving a multiplicity of factors. During diagnosis and treatment health professionals should be aware of the possibility that underlying the depression there may be another affliction such as Wilson's disease which sometimes responds well to treatment.
