Serum levels for antidepressant and neuroleptic drugs

A.H. Veefkind, J.C.L. van Commenée, W.J. Broekema

Measurement of serum concentrations for therapeutic drugs can aid the psychiatrist in making a proper decision in a reasonable time to alter dosage or to change medication. Clinically useful ranges are becoming an adjunct to treatment, although controlled studies of the relationship between serum levels for psychotropic drug and their efficacy often yielded conflicting results. In this article such ranges are reviewed for a number of antidepressants and neuroleptics.
