summary  The effects of cognitive behavioural treatment on a 47-year-old man who has paranoid schizophrenia that is resistant to medication are described. The case study demonstrates how successful this type of therapy can be in reducing positive and negative symptoms even in schizophrenia that is resistant to medication.
