CADASIL, a hereditary neuropsychiatric disease
cadasil, cerebral autosomal dominant arteriopathy with subcortical infarcts and leukoencephalopathy, is a hereditary disease characterised primarily by neurological and psychiatric symptoms. Very few psychiatrists know much about cadasil. We therefore discuss the clinical symptoms, diagnostic techniques and treatment of this rare disease. We also review the literature to find out which psychiatric symptoms characterise patients with cadasil and how the disease develops overtime.
