Inpatient treatment of multiple personality disorder: Possibilities and problems
Indications are given for inpatient treatment of patients with multiple personality disorder. The best choice is to treat these patients in a specialized unit instead of a general psychiatric ward. In most cases it is necessary to process the traumas that are the immediate cause of the complex symptomatology. Finally the conditions for such a specialized unit are discussed.
